About the Journal

Annals of Mathematical Modeling is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes educational research articles in mathematics education. Every submitted manuscript is reviewed by at least two peer reviewers using the double-blind review method, and the journal is published biannually (twice per year). 

The journal's primary focus is publishing educational research articles in mathematics education. Despite its name suggesting a technical mathematical modeling orientation, the journal is squarely centered on the teaching, learning, and research of mathematics — with mathematical modeling likely treated as a pedagogical topic (i.e., how modeling is taught and understood in educational settings) rather than as a purely technical or applied mathematics discipline. 

Submitted manuscripts are evaluated for suitability to the journal's focus and scope, as well as for major methodological flaws. The review process considers novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusions, and references. This suggests the journal values rigorous, original contributions that are methodologically sound and have clear scientific impact within mathematics education.

In terms of what the journal accepts, the scope appears to include research articles that address:

> Mathematical modeling in education — how it is taught, integrated into curricula, and understood by learners
> Mathematics education research broadly — pedagogical approaches, learning outcomes, instructional methods
> Empirical and theoretical studies related to mathematics teaching and learning

The journal enforces a maximum similarity threshold of 20% for submitted manuscripts, and uses a double-blind peer review process where at least two reviewers assess each paper — with neither reviewers nor authors aware of each other's identities.
